  1. Not force orderBy with skip

When you use the skip(n) operation, you are forced to supply and orderBy clause as well or an error occurs. Advisable as it may be to supply one, I suppose you could do without.

  2. Paged query combining remote and cached data

A Breeze plugin that pages a query combining remote and cached data in the query results. The paging strategy factors in pending, unsaved changes that could affect sort order (e.g., a name change), exclusion of entities marked for delete, and new entities that qualify for inclusion in the result. Could base it on the DevForce.EntityQueryPager (http://drc.ideablade.com/xwiki/bin/view/Documentation/query-paging)

  3. Provide Observable ErrorMessage at entity level & at Collection Level so that error messages can be displayed next to entity and then again

IN LOB application it is very critical to display error message next to the field in error as well as summary of errors.

When Binding the collection to HTML table, expose the Error Collection so that error message can be displayed in data-bind. This should be observable so that it HTML markup is updated dynamically when errors occurs and is cleared when error are corrected.

Similar observable error collection as List level to display summary of error as well. since this is summary, when clicking on error item, ability to set focus to the Editable filed in HTML table would…

  4. function parameters in query clauses

Add ability to pass functions into *where* clauses, *orderBy* clauses, etc., instead of strings, for better intellisense and TypeScript type support.

  5. Support DevForce models????

We have a lot invested in devforce models and the thought of having to maintain multiple models is troubling. I assume it is the saves that are the issue because I'm able to query the df entities without issue.

  7. Transparent local vs server queries.

I don't want to distinguish between local and server data. I'd like the framework to work out the cache state and refresh as necessary based on hints I provide - such as FIFO, LIFO, or callbacks for conflicts.

  10. Provide a server side logging module that would automatically log selected operations.

Ideally, this would be configured via attributes as well as thru a programmatic API.

  12. EntityManager.getEntityGraph - get a root entity's object graph from cache

Like the FindEntityGraph method in DevForce (http://drc.ideablade.com/xwiki/bin/view/Documentation/query-working-in-cache), this method would return an array of entities in cache consisting of the root entity and the related entities as specified in the call, perhaps with "expand" syntax. Could use for partial saves as requested in this S.O. post (http://stackoverflow.com/questions/13575058/how-can-i-save-a-single-entity-with-entitymanagers-savechanges-method). Also useful for moving graphs between EntityManagers and to browser local storage.

  13. MVC Service (v.3 and v.4)

Breeze supports Web API today. Our shop uses MVC 3 and MVC 4 ... but not Web API yet. Could Breeze talk to MVC controller methods and exchange JSON data as it does with Web API controllers?

  14. Configure breeze treatment of custom EntityType constructor members

Today you can extend a Breeze client EntityType by specifying a constructor with custom members - often unmapped properties - and registering the ctor with a MetadataStore. But you can't tell Breeze how it should treat those custom members. This is a request to be able to specify how Breeze treats them, i.e., whether they are serialized locally, serialized to remote service, rewritten for the prevailing model library (e.g., KO), if changes to the property change the EntityState. This request is identified internally as #2099

  16. Support other clients

Would be nice to develop the server components and then have some type of wizard or generator that could create a portable class library that could target windows 8 and wp8, generating the necessary client classes, metadata etc. Then you add a reference to the PCL client project, getting all the benefits. Basically how ria services was for SL but make breeze work with several clients by using PCL

  17. Show us how to bind to a grid

LOB apps have grids. Can you show us how to bind a list of Breeze entities to a grid and do filtering, sorting and paging.

  18. for Linux

I quickly scanned the documentation about installation and found heavy reference to Visual Studio. While I have VS2008 installed on one of my PCs. My day-to-day working machine is a Ubuntu box. Could you show some instruction about using Breeze on a Linux box? Perhaps with Eclipse as the IDE. Or make Breeze available on an online IDE such as JS Fiddle? Thanks.

    Simon,

Yes, our initial launch shows Breeze using Visual Studio 2012 with a .NET Entity Framework back-end.

Breeze does not require .NET, but this is currently how we have the data provider hooked up through WebAPI. We are planning to support other back-ends and front-ends, as well as show IDEs other than Visual Studio. Your feedback on UserVoice helps us prioritize these features.

Thanks for the feedback and your interest in Breeze.
